For years, you’ve been hearing your friends tell you about how their cell phones listen to their conversation. “Bruh, I’m telling you, I was talking about cat scratching posts, then I open up -insert social media here- and IT WAS RIGHT THERE IN AN AD!!!”
There’s now more to fear than “my phone is listening to me”.
“It has been proven that natural sleep is identical with hypnotic sleep and that during natural sleep the unconscious mind is most receptive to suggestions.” Says researcher Alois Benjamin Saliger
Hypnopedia is the process of learning while you sleep. It was—and maybe still to this day—used by people trying to accomplish a goal learning something “new”, while they sleep. From knowledge, to behavioral changes; pop in your headphones, hit play, and go to sleep.
It used to be that people would have to actively participate for this type of learning. You’d have to acquire a tape of CD and actually—you, yourself— press play and want to listen to it, while you slept. That was before everyone, and everyone you know, had a smartphone.
When asked “where do you place your phone while you sleep?” 92% of people responded: next to the bed.
If your phone is listening to you while you’re awake, why wouldn’t it be listening to you while you’re asleep? Your microphone is always on. After a few hours of silence—or better yet, snoring— and inactivity, your screen lights up, for a few moments, then waits… if no activity, your screen lights up again and plays your “new message” sound at the lowest audible option. If there’s no activity and the microphone doesn’t pick up any sound from you, other than your breathing habit while you sleep, the messages start playing.
What messages? What and who am I listening to while I sleep?
Major corporations, secret societies, governments, big religion… anyone who wants to tell you what to buy, how to vote, what to feel, how to act, influence your choices in any way. Horrifyingly enough, product messaging are probably the least concerning: “Drink soda. Soda is crisp and refreshing. When you drink soda, people like you.” Take a second and consider what any “special interest” group might want to put in your head. “Fear this religion” “Hate these people” “Commit this heinous act”… and that’s the PG-13 version.
How do you avoid the brainwashing while you sleep?
Well, the simplest solution is to keep that phone away from you, when you go to sleep. Keep it in a different room, in a drawer in-between clothes, in a sealed lead box… anywhere away from your head, and ears.
This article is probably true, but completely made-up, by me.
